SkI and SNOWBOARD SCHOOL

SKI PATROLLERS. – Two vacancies
Duties include snow safety work, guest injury attendance, slope maintenance, assisting with lunch breaks, Internationally recognized qualifications required. Must be able to speak fluent english
LIFT OPERATORS – Four vacancies
Main duties include lift opening pre-checks, ensuring loading/unloading areas are maintained, assisting guests onto lifts, lift pass checking, delivering fantastic guest service. Other duties are also required to help with the operation of the ski area. This is an outdoor role and requires candidates to be fit and have a pleasant, cheerful manner. On site training is provided for these important positions.
Must be able to speak clear fluent english.
BARISTA/CAFE ATTENDANT – One vacancy
Great coffee and skiing go hand in hand. Our Foote Rest cafe is small and very cosy and can be super busy at times. We need an experienced barista/cafe attendant who can make great coffee and hot chocolates. You’ll need to be super friendly, fast,efficient and be able to multi task. You”l also look after heating and stocking our Fairlie Bakehouse hot pies and making sure all our confectionery and other products are stocked and well presented. You’ll also assist the Business Manager with ordering supplies.
SKI/SNOWBOARD RENTAL SHOP – One vacancy
We need a technician to work in our rentals shop. A pleasant,cheerful manner is required,and the ability to deliver fantastic guest service while under pressure. Previous experience would be be beneficial but those with an understanding of ski and snowboard fitting, tuning and repairs are encouraged to apply. Other duties are also required to help with the operation of the ski area. English speakers preferred, not fluent considered – others need not apply.
GUEST SERVICES/LIFT PASS SALES – One vacancy
Main duties for this role are assisting with lift pass sales, cafe service, guest services. This multi skilled position requires a person with exceptional guest service skills, pleasant manner, cash handling, point of sale experience and ability to work unsupervised. Fluent english required. Must be organised and a good communicator.
LIVE IN MOUNTAIN COUPLE – Vacancies filled
A person with a mechanical aptitude and/or experienced machine operator is required to assist with the road clearing and grooming at Mt Dobson. Must be able work autonomously and in harsh weather conditions at times.Other duties will include basic maintenance of equipment, weather reporting, assisting with lift operations and in the ski hire during busy periods. A ‘can do’ attitude is required along with a sense of humour. English speaker.
An opportunity exists for the partner to work in the ticket office/cafe or as a lift operator.
Accommodation is in a basic but warm mountain cabin.
All applicants must:
- Have a valid work permit/visa
- Be available for face-to-face interviews, this is very important!
- Have good manners, be able to hold conversation in english and deliver fantastic guest service
- Have a good attitude toward guests and team health and safety
- Be available to work the entire season, which typically runs from late June to early October
Accommodation is not provided, but rental accommodation is readily available in Fairlie and Kimbell (Nearest towns to the ski area).
When the mountain is open, everyone works. Days off occur when the mountain is closed due to snow/wind, and may be rostered later in the season.

We are a small, privately owned commercial ski area. During the season, we employ about 18 staff (this includes instructors employed by the Snow School); we pride ourselves on our small, friendly team – with everyone able and keen to pitch in and help wherever and whenever needed. We require a staff that are able to communicate well in English, as there is a lot of radio communication and clarity is essential. The mountain is a non-smoking zone for staff members.

The nearest town is Fairlie, a very compact village that services the surrounding farm land. The only on-mountain accommodation is for the Couple on Mountain position. Staff need to obtain their own accommodation; rentals or inexpensive motels can usually be found in Fairlie. Check out our trail map.
